Be part of our thriving community and the history of a new beginning

For over three years, a growing community of families, professionals, and students has gathered every Friday at Oddfellows Hall for Jum'uah prayer. What began with six people and a simple question — "Why is there no Friday prayer in Richmond?" — has become a thriving congregation at the heart of South West London.

Now we have the opportunity to make it permanent. We are raising £1.3 million to acquire the building and establish the first masjid in the borough's history. Your donation brings us closer to a home of our own.

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity. Be part of it.

We are a registered charity and all donations are eligible for Gift Aid.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The potential here is huge. There are 8,000+ Muslims in the borough of Richmond. The community is growing, educated and integrated - a community of believers and a growing community of converts. There is strong demand for the meaningful practice of Islam.

  • We are looking to acquire the building where we have performed jummah salah since 2022. A 4,000 square foot building, located in the heart of Richmond, next to historic Richmond Green, a few minutes from Richmond station with its excellent transport links and nearby large public parking. Internal and external images of the building are above.

  • To establish a permanent islamic centre in the heart of Richmond - open to everyone, serving the whole borough. Oddfellows Hall will beocme a thriving hub for faith, education, wellbeing and civic life — a place where Richmond’s muslim community and all of our neighbours gather, grow and contribute.

    • Connection to Allah (daily salah, jummah, Ramadan taraweeh and Qur'an education - a permanent home for worship and knowledge).

    • Dedicated women's programmes (dedicated space for women's circles, fitness, leadership development and family support — built in from day one, not an afterthought).

    • Children & youth (islamic education, character development and mentoring programmes giving the next generation a strong foundation and a place to belong).

    • Community wellbeing (elder support, mental health signposting, counselling and family welfare services — caring for the most vulnerable in our community).

    • Civic & interfaith (outreach, interfaith dialogue and programmes open to all Richmond residents — a civic asset that strengthens the whole borough).

  • In short - “meaning over ritual”. We believe that faith understood becomes faith that transforms.

As Allah says, “We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran so that you [people] may understand.” (Qur'an 12:2).

We are strongly of the view that connection to islam is dependent upon understanding the meaning of what you are doing. We have been honoured to be endorsed by Sheikh Faid of Regent's Park Mosque, recently voted one of the 500 most influential muslims in the world (https://themuslim500.com/profiles/faid-mohammed-said/).

Our methodology is strongly rooted in the four schools of traditional islamic scholarship.

  • Professional. Well organised. Representative.

RMA operates through four active teams — drawing volunteers from every part of the community: men and women, converts and heritage muslims, professionals and students, young and old.

    • Operational team - Manages day-to-day administration, charity compliance, finance and governance. Ensures the organisation runs with professional standards and full Charity Commission accountability. Manages external organizational relationships (including interfaith).

    • Events team - Plans and delivers community events including Eid celebrations, fundraising dinners. Responsible for the community's public presence in Richmond.

    • Jummah team - Coordinates weekly Friday prayers — scheduling the Imam and guest scholars, managing the space, welcoming new attendees and ensuring a high-quality, accessible service for 200+ weekly congregants.

    • Women's Team - Leads dedicated programming for women and families — including women's circles, educational sessions and family welfare support. Central to RMA's commitment to full and equal participation.
